Eat the bun

In my family we had a saying, I'm pretty sure it was my brother Dave that coined it, he's the funniest one in the family.  Anyway the saying is "Eat the bun," it was our way of sticking our tongue out or even a friendly way to give the bird.  But diabetes has even messed with that phrase for me...a bun, oh those warm sticky cinnamon ones, or the fresh bakery kind with pecans... well they can be a kind of no-no food for a diabetic, those carbs you know?

Believe me I'd love to tell diabetes to Eat the bun!

Ugh... continued

First things first...

*  I am a person with diabetes, I'm not a doctor, nurse, seer or anything other than a regular person (OK, regular is debatable).  I will share my thoughts, experience, emotions and maybe a few cuss words, probably a few cuss words.    The information, aka stuff, I share here is just my stuff and is NOT a substitute for consulting your medical team.

*  This blog was created a few years ago.  Yes I am aware this is the first post...eat the bun would ya?

*  If you are a type2 (I hate everything about diabetes including the abbreviations) and you think taking insulin means "the end," please don't.  Using insulin has been great for me.  Talk with your doctor(s), give it some serious thought, it can be a great tool.

*  This blog is for entertainment purposes only.  Whose entertainment is the question.

If you don't have something nice to say...

...then keep it to yourself.

I've tried using this adage with a few doctors, but it seems they have a problem with manners. If I never hear hemogolbin A1c ever again I'll be a happy person. For the ND (non-diabetics) the "A1c" is the number that the docs can use against you. (Of course, when it's a good number you walk out with a high 5 from them.) The A1c tracks the level of sugar in your blood over a 3 month period -- truth or consequences, as it were. No amount of "but that can't be right, I swear I've been really, really good" is going help.

There was a time when I didn't mind learning my A1c value...it was a long time ago and in another dimension. I miss those days. I am seeing glimpses of that place, it's still in the distance but I'm seeing the path. Its just that I hate that path.

Ugh, what a path it is, it should be outlawed, at least in my opinion. You might guess that my opinion isn't quite the same as my docs opinion. Sometimes it's like Cain and Able, Holyfield vs
